Landon had to go for a VCUG yesterday to check to see if he still has kidney reflux. This is the same test they did about a year ago when he was in the hospital with a kidney infection. Definately not a fun time but at least this time he was semi-sedated. First they gave him Versed...he became a bit silly...and then some nitrous oxide gas (like at the dentist). He would go from crying to talking about the video he was watching like a switch being turned on and off. Hopefully he won't remember any of it!
After the test at the hospital we had to go to the doctor's office for an ultrasound and to discuss the results. After it was all over, it was 2:30 and we were all tired and starving. So we headed to the Olive Garden.
Oh...so you want to know what the test results said?? Well he still has the reflux--Stage 5 (the worst). There has been no change. The doctor said there is not a great chance of children growing out of Stage 5 reflux, but the ones that do are typically young boys...like Landon. So, since he has not had any problems and his kidneys look good the doctor wants him to continue antibiotics every day and watch him for another year. If he does not grow out of it, they will have to do surgery to correct it.
We are thankful that his kidneys are healthy, has had no problems since last year and still has the opportunity to grow out of it.
I'll leave you with a couple of pictures of the silly boy...
